Grading Requirements


Pre-requirements: 4 Stripes on White Belt


Basic Ground Positions
  • Mount

Break Falls and Rolls
  • Back and side break falls
  • Forward and backward rolls
Self-defence
  • Standing fence
  • Ground fence
  • Single handed wrist grab – thumb up
  • Single handed wrist grab – thumb down
  • Two handed wrist grab
Ground Techniques
  • Escape mount bridge and roll
  • Basic guard pass
  • Side control to mount
Takedowns
  • Bear hug takedown
  • Outside leg reap (“O soto gari”)
Fitness
  • BJJ Tasmania warm ups 3 x 5
  • Roll with partner 5 x 2 minute rounds

Yellow Belt
